State to host information events on federal Medicaid changes
Keep Your Benefits NM statewide sessions begin Nov. 5 in Albuquerque
SANTA FE — With federal Medicaid changes approaching and SNAP changes already in effect this year, the New Mexico Health Care Authority is urging residents to learn what they must do to protect their benefits.
The agency is launching free, in-person Keep Your Benefits NM information sessions across the state to help residents understand the changes, prepare for new requirements and avoid gaps in coverage or food assistance.
The first event will take place in Albuquerque:
- Location: Gateway Center, 5400 Gibson Blvd. SE, Albuquerque
- Session times: 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Attend either session.
“We want eligible New Mexicans to keep their Medicaid coverage. It’s critical that everyone understands the coming changes,” said Alanna Dancis, acting Medicaid director. “By bringing this information directly into communities across the state, we will give members, providers, and community organizations accurate information, so people understand the changes, how to protect their coverage and how to get help before they experience an unexpected loss of coverage.”
The sessions are open to residents, health care providers and community organizations. Participants can learn about upcoming Medicaid changes and SNAP changes that took effect this year, including what steps they may need to take to keep their benefits.
Representatives from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will also be available to connect residents with work opportunities and job training. Live Spanish interpretation will be provided at both sessions.
Medicaid members and SNAP customers should keep their contact information current, read notices carefully and respond by the deadlines listed. If you receive a turquoise envelope from the Health Care Authority, you must take action.
